For over fifty years “The Boy Friend” has been one of the most popular and most often revived of all British musicals.

Recapturing the spirit of the 1920’s it is set in a Finishing School for young English ladies in the South of France. The girls are eagerly awaiting the Carnival Ball.  Worried about fortune hunters, the wealthy Polly Browne has invented a mythical escort, while Maisie pretends to be indifferent to her eager suitor Bobby van Husen.

Polly’s father Percival visits the school only to find that the school’s headmistress, Madame Dubonnet, is an old flame. Polly falls in love with messenger boy Tony and while the romance flourishes on the beach we meet the old “ladies man” Lord Brockhurst and his domineering wife. In traditional style the lovers are parted by the end of the second act but reunited in the third act. Everyone is suitably paired off in the final ball scene.
