Our first on-stage production since February 2020.  Our Village Hall is a COVID-secure venue and seating capacity was limited.

Set in Yonkers, New York in 1942, the play is the 1991 Tony Award and Pulitzer Prize winning coming-of-age story centred around two brothers, Arty and Jay. They are sent by their travelling salesman father Eddie to live with their stern German grandmother, who lives in Yonkers, after their mother died. Also living with them is their childlike aunt Bella and uncle Louie, a gangster. Gert, another aunt, acts as a referee and handles the family’s problems with incredible patience.  Over the course of this moving, bittersweet comedy, the young boys learn lessons about life, love, responsibility and the importance of family that will carry them into adulthood.

This play was originally scheduled for performance 14th-16th May 2020 but was rescheduled due to the COVID 19  restrictions.
