This is a rollicking comedy about the attempts of some amateurs, with varying dance skills, to overcome their inhibitions and two left feet. It all takes place in an adult tap-dancing class held in a North London church hall. Mavis, a former professional chorus girl, tries her hardest to teach the bumbling ‘students’ a carefully choreographed number for a forthcoming charity show. 
But before the dancing begins, Mavis must mediate the dramas that erupt amongst this motley but loveable crew on their way to hoped for triumph at their performance. 
The play was voted comedy of the year at the Standard Drama Awards 1984 and a popular film was produced in 1991, starring Lisa Minnelli as Mavis.
